Having Difficulty With Your Organic Garden? These Tips Can Help!

There are a number of methods available that will allow you to create your own thriving, healthy organic garden. Just learn some techniques, and put the ones that resonate with you into practice.

Aspirin water will strengthen your plants against diseases. An aspirin and a half, dissolved in about two gallons of fresh water, is great for your plants. All you need to do is spray the plants with the solution in order to battle common ailments. Give your plants a spray of the aspirin-water mixture about one time every three weeks.

If you have a high priority for sustainability in your organic gardening, try leaving a corner of the property undeveloped as a mini wildlife refuge. Most likely, you will find your organic garden producing better once your property is home to the insects, birds, and other wildlife that plants rely on for pollination and the production and dispersal of seeds.

Before planting any perennials, you have to make the ground ready. Slice under the grass with a spade, flip the layer you have lifted over, and spread three inches of wood chips on top. Allow for at least 10 days to pass, then plant the perennials that you just purchased.

Put coffee ground into your soil. Coffee grounds are rich in nitrogen, an essential nutrient for plant growth. Nitrogen, along with phosphorous and potassium, is an important nutrient in the garden. It contributes to healthy and strong growth of the plant, but don’t overuse it.

Don’t let all the little chores in your organic garden build up. Even if you can’t tend to your garden daily, you can do little things to help so that there is not a huge amount of work to be done when you are ready to get back to it. If you put the dog outside, weed a few spots in the garden while your dog goes to the bathroom.

Do you want to kill weeds without using commercial chemicals? A layer of newspaper, several pages thick, placed over the ground will do the trick. Weeds can’t grow without sunlight. When you put newspaper over them, they suffocate from lack of sunlight. Newspapers break down over time, and they make a great addition to compost. Add visual appeal by placing some mulch over the top.

When planting seeds in containers, remember that the planting depth should be around three times bigger than the seed size. There are some seeds, however, that you should not cover at all, since they need sunlight to germinate. Two of the common examples are petunias and ageratum. If you’re not sure if your seeds need sunlight, you can find out online or through the seeds’ package.

Gardening can be done by anyone, but only those armed with the proper information can get the most from their organic garden. Put these organic gardening tips to use.
