Need Advice On Organic Gardening? Read On

If you want to embrace a healthier lifestyle that includes a nutritious diet, organic gardening is the way to go. You do have to put in some effort, though. Knowing this might make you ponder where you should start and what aspects of organic gardening are most important.

Try to put an aspirin in the water to get rid of plant diseases. To add the aspirin to the plant, dissolve about one tablet and a half into approximately two gallons of fresh water. You can just spray this on them to fight disease. Apply this solution to your plants every few weeks.

When growing plants inside of the house, you should ensure the thermostat is set at around 65-75 degrees in the daytime. Indoor plants grow best at these warm temperatures. If you want to save money on gas bills in the winter, you can provide local heating for the plants with a heat lamp instead.

Once your seeds have germinated they will not need to be kept as warm as before. Your seedlings should be moved away from any heat source. Make sure you remember to remove any plastic films that were on the plant containers to repel humidity and warmth. Keep an eye on your seeds so you will know when this should be done.

Make gardening efficient. It’s frustrating to search for a tool for a half hour. Prepare all the tools you need before you go out to work on your garden, and put them away nicely when you are done. Get a tool belt if you need to, or a pair of pants with a lot of pockets.

Use plastic bags to cover muddy gardening shoes. This way, you can maintain your momentum and head right back to your garden so that you can finish what you were doing.

Laundry Basket

When the time comes to harvest your produce, collect it using an old laundry basket. It makes a great strainer for your vegetables. The produce can be rinsed off as it sits in the laundry basket, and extra water will drain out through the sides.

If slugs are an issue in your garden, a beer trap can make them go away. First, place a glass canning jar in the soil, burying it until the mouth is even with the surface of the soil. Fill the jar with beer about an inch lower than the top. The scent of the beer will bait the slugs into the jar and they will become trapped.

As should be obvious by now, organic gardening requires a bit of forethought and planning before implementation. Also, to get the best results, you must stay focused and keep up with it. Keeping the aforementioned tips in mind, you are well on your way to becoming successful with organic gardening.
